TearsA Poem by jordyn27
They gather in your eyes,
Sting like mace, Before they claw their way Down 'round your face. They drip from your nose, Quiet like a feather, Seep into your pillow, Disappearing forever. They halt in their tracks, And so do you, A puffed red tomato, Dampened in the morning dew. You capture your breath, Which ran away with your mind, As your heart throbs wildly In your chest, much too confined. Your mind's trapped in time, But your body keeps going Through the paces, A river ever-flowing. You fall back to reality, Confused, out of sync, In a body so unlike yours, You lie there and blink. You stroke your face, Where the saltiness remains, On your pillow, A crusty, cold stain Which reminds you of memories That you wish to forget, And the many, many things That you've lived to regret. Tears, much like scabs, They harden in time, Concealing the pain Which leaked out from inside. But the scab falls off, When the wound is healed, You may think it's the end, But your fate is sealed. © 2017 jordyn27Author's Note
