Overlooking & Definitely Unplanned

Overlooking & Definitely Unplanned

A Poem by Josie E. Cook M. A.
"

What was I thinking...

"

Overlooking & Definitely Unplanned

As I drink another cup of coffee,

I dig through a stack of old notes,

My notebook and my pen close

By

Thoughts exploding inside my head

Waiting to form on the pages,

Where is my creativity and my

Imagination now?

Never having those stellar grades in

English

To back up my claims of having the grit

To write

Are the schools even teaching it anymore?

Where did proper penmanship go?

I feel peculiar often because I dream

Of making it as a writer someday

And maybe, I made an obvious mistake

Believing a degree would help my future

I never planned my ending

That may be the point that I overlooked,

I concede that I did.  J. E. Cook ©2017

I envy those who can write with pen or pencil their thoughts or ideas. My brain moves too fast and the thoughts are scattered and splintered. I can type as a conversation is occurring and since the invention of computer keyboards, my creativity and focus has increased ten-fold. This is another nice piece about something as simple as writing. I especially applaud you for mentioning proper penmanship. Mine is atrocious, but contrarily, I picked up basic calligraphy rather quickly. Maybe because it's more like drawing? In any case, I have some time here at work and am moving on to more of your work.

Thank you, Carol for your review!
I've often thought toward where I am ...today,
they call THAT yesterday's daydreams - chuckling here. Now I know less - that's what today's peeps say because it isn't yesterday anymore to them'- it is THEIR today to daydream within.
