Carolina CoastA Poem by Josie E. Cook M. A.Walks of peace and natural wonder~Carolina Coast
I walk these Twisting irregular beach paths With massive sand dunes along Their curving Sides. During the early morning hours, The sand is cool and moist Dew clings to the flourishing seagrass blades As the rosy light kisses the horizon The vast vista of the sea reflects the rising Sun, and shows me the trails of the ghost crabs And the shimmering seashells litter the smooth Swept surface of the sands In pearly shades and white chalks Great shafts of glistening light peek through the moving Puffed-up Clouds, As spotted horseshoe crabs hide and the shorebirds Gather along the oceanfront The pier seems miles away Where the pink light surrounds it, As the sandpipers run with their Swift gaits Looking for insects and crustaceans To gulp up in tremendous abundance among the various point to point distances where many birds forage several times daily. Often, listening to the crashing Liquid around the collected rocks, As consistently ever-changing waves Are carrying in more sought treasures and jovial songs of welcome echo in the background while these feathered spirited beings are poking around quickly in the varied shapes of wet sand for flourishing morsels. The casual bird watchers look on with posed binoculars Wishing away the early dog walkers. J. E. Cook (C) 2018 © 2018 Josie E. Cook M. A.Author's Note
