Time Travel

A Poem by Jessica J

In whines and tears she describes

A distraught memory of yesterday.

Without blinking, I have acknowledged

And allowed this outburst.

How it's me she's decided to turn to,

I'll never know.

It carries me and drops down,

Back two thousand years

To a time i swore

I would never

Return.

Here i am defeated and torn and crying

Noticing every sound, every creak

And in my mind's eye it's not real

But the water comes to my eyes;

I am in those four walls again.

The ball of fear that would get

Stuck in my throat and

Travel to the bottom

Of my belly

Has taken

Residence

Again.

As the girl continues to cry,

I have to shake the projector clear

I am not 10 years old again

And she cannot derail me.

I cannot criticize this, It is strange how voices from the past can be so loud as to be real and in the moment.
I like the way you brought it around, the echoes from past days, in colorful words.
Carry on then....

I personally think your poem is fine just the way it is. I totally enjoyed reading it.

I personally don't see any changes that need to be made. I felt this was a great insight into where one has been as opposed to where one is now. Greatly done. Made me feel as if I was within that same moment traveling as well. Good work.
