The Screen fades to Black

I ate alone at cheesecake factory

I was so hungry

I sat and watched the married ones behave

Smiled to myself amused at the play

While I ate my lemon garlic angel hair pasta

Thats what the single ones do

I was very happy too

Then in that harmonious moment

He called on video chat on Telegram

I told him where I am

He was chatting from his supervan

the last place we made love

we fit like a glove

he said my shirt of black white stripes looks like beetle juice

through humor maybe he tries to seduce

then the connection went weak

could hardly hear as we speak

Just got those R2 beep beep

then the screen faded to black

He sent a text message the connection is bad

Oh i already know

Still i love him so

through this mysterious glow

I order a tiramisu cheesecake to go

thats the only lover coming home with me

makes me think while i dream

Maybe in my heart i am waiting

because this love is a feeling never fading

i saw his phone call and my heart was awaking

forgetting all past mistakes in making

i text him what I thought were romantic notes

add it to the definition of comatose

all he replies is oh well that is so cool

this is a game for a fool

players who love breaking a rule

i still believe in forever

whatever

why dont he know we belong together

still we try to speak in this stormy weather

the connection is bad

as the screen faded to black

when we are together on the phone or in person

we are one

still learning a lesson

these feelings are never done

but we are gifted with a connection that is bad

and so the screen fades to black
