Little Windows

Little Windows

A Poem by JR

There’s something about

the glow of all those little lights

in windows, night has wrapped

all those squat houses with her skirt

I wonder who sits there

with the lamp, behind the curtain

I wonder what it is they are doing

writing, like me?

maybe watching TV?

loving, like me?

aching, like me?

I could construct all their histories

the one gift that has been given to me;

I turn off the radio, would prefer

to drive in the liquid silence

and wonder about those little lights

and the people

tucked behind all those windows

writing, watching TV

loving and aching

constructing histories

just like me.

Amazing really. We are all unique and yet so similar. Love the reference to the night with her skirt.
