Put On Your Shoes

Put On Your Shoes

A Poem by jradliff
"

God gave us all an ability, so will you put on the shoes he gave you?

"

I’ve been forcing myself to be someone I’m not, trying to see beyond this plot

Past the plan of God, making things more complicated than they are

Why do I gaze so deep and so far, after all, we’re all like a star, only here to shine for a while

So if I have a time stamp, I want to leave behind something my Father will smile at

For he gave me an ability no one else has, he knows my plans

I’ve been trying to put on someone else’s shoes, deciding which path to choose

When all I have to do is put on my own, the ones, that just for me were sown

If the shoe fits don’t wear it, the miles they tread might not be for you to carry

We all have our own weight to pull, to hold, as we face this battle up close

God already gave us all we need to succeed, in this world, as we’re hurled

As we’re pushed, just keep in hand his book

and don’t look, at what others are capable of

You’re only to compete with yourself, rise to your own potential

It’s sequential, the steps that we take, every day, unless there you just lay, letting time slip away

Everybody wants to leave their mark in this world, and as it twirls

We may get off balance, losing sight of this challenge

But whatever gift God has blessed you with, he just wants you to use it

And not let it sit on the back-burner, hoping by itself it will burn up

Your fire first needs a flame, for this is the game

So take a look at your heart, how you are set apart

What makes you different, because you’re not insignificant

God has given you a desire, so let it spread like wildfire
