i hope you remember

i hope you remember

A Poem by musi-cant

do you remember

that time we spent in november

and how i said i wouldnt ever

forget who i was but i started growing up

when i promised to you

that i would never

forget your pale skin your temper

on the front porch swing together

i never let you in my heart

but i let you in my car

and i was so afraid youd fall into a slumber

on the drive home i was unsure

if you would make it back

but i wondered

if you would make it back alone

i know the streets are kind cold

and the yellow lines would pass like days

a steady, hypnotic pace

but i remembered your smile, your face

so after ten minutes i picked up the phone to say

let me knowe your home safe
