My Love

My Love

A Poem by Diana Wolf (Jacqueline Stone)

My love is damaged

My love is scared

My love wants to be near you but wouldn’t dare

My love crys

My love hides

My love reaches for you when you’re not there,

But holds off in your presence

to protect itself from the fall.

My love has liked and shallowly loved another

My love has kept them at bay to feel less pain

When I truly love I love deep and fast

My love can’t take the screams

The pleas for closeness hurt

But I refuse to let it out

And hurt inside while smiling

What would you say to my love

Would you fall with me

Or let me crash

Watching you pull your chute

How many times have I pulled my chute

While others crashed?
