"Material"

"Material"

A Poem by Jon Roggie

"Where do you get your influence?"

"What was that based on?"

"Love your material!"

All you could take from it?

Did I make you feel?

Draw a tear?

Make you smile?

Make you think?

Material?

I have failed.

This is a brilliant & unique piece of poetry. "Love your material!" Reminds me of a review- or one questioning their own work- "Did I make you feel? Draw a tear?" A short descriptive poem- that to me, gives the reader a sneak inside the writers mind. We repeatedly ask ourselves these questions as we write. I truly enjoyed this piece- thank you for sharing. Excellent work!

~ very thought-provoking work, monsieur... "material" could mean so many things... my "material" is real life... but a lot of people think that real life and real emotions aren't good enough...
