"Don't touch anything!"

"Don't touch anything!"

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Always repeated,
  especially when we visited.

Someone you needed to impress.

Dress up,
   best behaviors.

But you never remembered,
  children will be children.

Eye contact is enough for infatuation.

Simple touch leaves a pleasant scar.

Time passes,
  still return,
     sometimes to talk,
         not only to you.

Honest conversation leads to unsought acceptance.

        .... at a price.

As I hold my best friend's hand,
  both of us grieve.

We may have moved apart in life,
  still we are family.

And I wasn't supposed to touch anything.

~ a very, very, very beautiful piece of writing... that is so insightful and moving... i hate the way children are treated... and i agree that too much pressure is put on them to project perfection... ~ "a simple touch" does lead to heart-warming connections... children shouldn't be stopped... i loved this post... it's very sweet and earnest...
