I still remember a lesson from high school

I still remember a lesson from high school

A Poem by Jon Roggie

I know.

For those who have been here before,
I will ramble about the process of writing.

I screw up my punctuation,
and may have bypassed proper grammar.

Still,
  I write,
    and it feels good.

Anyway,
a writing lesson in high school,
requiring the description of at least three of the senses.

Easy project,
until the subject matter was turned into a sporting event.

Still should be simple,
  but then as now,
I like to try, and be original.

So,
  I wrote about gladiators.

I touched on all the senses.

Sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch.

Then,
  I added emotion.

After that,
my teacher let me coast for the next 8 weeks,
but we did have conversations about Hendrix.

The point?

Well,
best I can come up with is to try.

Maybe don't think of writing as work,
but as a way to have fun.

Anyway,
time to listen to some Hendrix.
