It's a long way, Gnome.

It's a long way, Gnome.

A Story by Jon Roggie

Nudge to the head.

Ignore it.

Second doesn't leave a question.

I will give you an image you never want to see upon awakening.

A tortoise giving you a stare.

A close one.

Have you ever noticed the beak on a tortoise?
Not sure if you call it that,
   but it freezes the blood,
and every time I open my eyes....

"Gnome."

He is still there.
What did I do to deserve this?
   It wasn't even me,
     or another gnome,
      but they always hound us.

"Gnome."

First,
 they start kidnapping us.
I never wanted to go to the Amazon.
     It took me three years...

"Gnome!"

Take a breath,
  and a few more.
Ready to plead my case.

Rustle in the overgrowth.

"Follow me.
You are in need of a Strawberry."

How does a moving rock share such a wicked touch of amusement?

I will forever picture the tortoise gnome nemesis number one.
I suppose waking up with a small dinosaur staring through you could be seen as ever so slightly distressing. I know it'd put me off my corn flakes.
Did they send you postcards when they got taken?
I'll keep an eye out for it on my travels Jon 😀
