No matter

No matter

A Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)
"

It's never enough

"
No matter
How much effort
How hard you try
How sweet you are
How kind you are
How clever you are
How thin we get
How fit we get
How learned or clever
Or how much manners our mother taught us
How cute we are
Or how enticing we look
Or how down to earth and
Friendly we are
How many people we make laugh
With our jokes
How much money we make
How big a house we live in
How new that car is
How our holidays are so bigger than others
It doesn't make a single difference
There is always some human on earth to pick on us
To bring us down
To torture us
Don't seek approval or self worth
From others
Stop striving for them
Only God gives his unconditional love and approval
Because he loves us

I can't argue with the message, and I like the way everything runs on from the 'no matter' until the final few lines. I imagine most readers, like me, were wondering what the message would be.

Couple of observations
- maybe have a new stanza when you reach 'It doesn't make a difference' because you've stopped the no wonder statements; maybe also another one at 'Don't seek approval'. You may like the visual effect of having no breaks despite these being obvious places to do so - your call.
- how our holidays are so bigger than others ... feels like it's either missing a word like 'much' or that the 'so' is unnecessary

Regards
Nigel
