Those of you
My age or perhaps Even less May know the train Is on its way Like the cash or Stevens Song I hear the train a coming Or Peace train My trains a coming It’s getting closer now It’s picked up Lots of family That I don’t see now It’s coming round that bend It’s picked up lots of singers Lots of actors too and just Plain old ordinary men It’s ruthless in its choice It doesn’t scrutinise who’s who Our tickets are for life Let’s use them carefully They were given at our Birthday a free gift to all Of us you see Our death is fast approaching The tickets wearing faded thin The ticket collector waits And yells hey that’s him Today Draw your last breath in And wait to see the light That evershining Light The ticket collector holds That puncher thing And in his other hand An everlasting torch A light To guide you safely in That railway master Ticks you off as arrival By on bye © 2017 Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)Reviews
