ornaments

A Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)
"

looking around my room i see ornaments this inspired me

"
oh buddha sitting cross legged there
are your eyes open or awash
in tear
oh teddies with your skirts and vest
are you a childhood whim i neatly guessed
oh lady with your porcelain face
your skirt so swirly of  painted lace
oh puppy that resembles mine
you will stay with me until the end of time
oh vases painted purple blue and black
you sit so proud upon that flat
oh candles in your unburnt glory
ill lite you tonight and smell your story
oh doilies that i crocheted there
many hours of work i toiled there
oh cut glasses of diamond shapes
ill drink with you tonight in wine I taste
oh lantern that guides me there
in days of old they used you there
paintings on the wall some are mine
some my mothers she painted i do find
photo frames of guilded silver and of wooden care
my family sits and lies beneath you there
they stare
oh what is a house a room without these i see
just a frame
a wooden box
of concrete carpet walls and roof
but one day ill pack these ornaments away
and to you ill give
to look at some other day
