the music the bonfire the beach and the pocket watch

the music the bonfire the beach and the pocket watch

A Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)
"

trying a new style

"
pocket watch
tell the time
days of old
stories told
sitting round the
bonfire at night
on that beach
on native shores
bonfire
lights up the sky
people move closer
sometimes shy
some may dance
the music starts
the moonlit sky
it fades away
the bonfire
chants
music take my love and me
to the place where we were
young and free
to that white sand beach
on native shore
show me the time
oh stopwatch
tell me more!
the ashes of that bonfire
they swiftly long ago got
washed away
the pocket watch has long
been sold to some old guy
the music stays
on my records here i play
i close my eyes
i feel the roar of fire
I can hold that watch

and here in minds own eyes
Ill surely
dance  again with thee

You've sent me on a nostalgia journey! So many good times to be had around bonfires, especially growing up in the boondocks (too far to go to town to party!) You captured so many of the same things I remember & loved . . . with my morning fire in the woodstove right now, I can hear the crackling as a background to your message! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

i like the stop watch ...representing those moments in time and memory...everyone should have a white sand beach to recall ;) the flow is rocky ... but i appreciate the"experiment" ...using the title to tie it together does make a difference tho.
