![]() untitledA Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)![]() writing as i go very rusty written in several minutes![]() the blue bird the red robin the kookaburra the owl and the seagull over the sea what do they all have in common i ask of you sitting there alone in your chair wings they all have wings they fly they are free just like you and me grow me some wings grow me a spirit of freedom grow me a sense of purpose to follow my dreams to fly over the ocean and up the mountains too to soar through the valleys and beyond to grey and blue give me some courage give me some spring some spite in my step grow me some wings i asked to heaven i just cried He said havent you seen them yet? you have to learn how to fly learn how to stride leave the world and all the passers by they are there on your chair wrap them in your heart strap them on with strength and then you and them will never part the blue bird just sat there gazing through my window glass with the sun behind him he looked like heavens messenger i sat there and forever will wonder with my hand in my pocket my head in my heart all mixed up not sure where to really start He flew away as I closed my eyes and prayed hopefully that blue bird will visit me anon another day and show me my wings hes an expert you see he knows a thing or two of the wide blue yonder yue
