does?

does?

A Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)

Does the jam miss the fruity vine
I ask as I spread it thick and moist

does the   peanut butter miss its shell
as I woof it down in haste

does the butter miss the tin churn
of milk
fresh from the cow in the barn

does the flower miss the dirt
and the feel of wet moist rain

does the paper miss its bark
on its parent tree

does the wig miss its owner
the pony tail falling deftly on floor

does the orphan miss his birth mum
as it meets the new  parents

does the puppy in the pet shop cage
miss his lonely mum weeping

does the tide miss the moon
as it wakes to the sunrise

does the potpouri
miss its freedom swaying
petals in the sun n rain

does the dead miss this life

does Adam miss Eves innocence
that I cannot answer

does the war miss its fallen
as the graves grow by the day

does the oyster miss its pearl
as she tries it on with glee

does the widow miss her husband
as she kisses his picture goodnight

these are all the questions
of life
and more
the most important one
being
will i miss me when im gone?

what is it all for
we all change
evolve into something else
the hair into the wig
the peanut into the butter
the tree into the paper
and so on and so on
etc etc etc

the imprints of our life
are here
forever more
and we travel on to the unknown
a new entity
a new being
what will become of me and you?

this is a question
that no one has returned to answer

im like the flower thats waiting
for my buds to dry out run dry
be swept up in the wind
and scattered all around
and yes ill miss myself
of what I was back then

So many questions Julie. Certainly a different perspective and I have no answers. I just read and smiled at your creativity.
