The last bitA Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)Stupid I know I’m trying to write one ditty poem a day on waking to get me back I’ve been gone a bit
You took the last bit
The last sweet bite The apple pie Sweet and good Left no remnant Or crumb of it’s Existing Each apple slice Cut so even precise No skin left there Each ingredient Sugar n spice Flavoured especially nice Each pastry puff Rolled out exact The ovens on The temp was hot 🥵 You cooked me Perfectly the timer on You laid me out On floral platter I felt the coolness I felt the love The table set The spoons and cream Serviettes and flowers Set the eating scene There’s only you Why bother with this I say as I see your tonsils As I slid down That slippery slide You burp and gaze out Frosty morn from Window there I peak up at empty chair I’m just a crumb You get up Holding quite a lot Of wind in there I the crumb fall to the ground No you didn’t eat the last of me Till I see mr whiskers Running over to me I shut my eyes So tight Don’t feel a thing As he gulps And eats The very last remaining thing © 2021 Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)Reviews
