Unapologetic

Unapologetic

A Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)

The words
Hung
Dry
Out on the line
Hung for all to see

She’d said her piece
They rolled their eyes
Not again
They thought
Uncomfortable silence
Brittle air
Like hot toffee burning
Their silenced tongues

Their eyes wild
Biting at their spit
In disbelief
But She stood her ground
Breasts puffed out to them

They walked away

She sure had grown some b…s !

I want what she had for last nights dessert
one thought to herself smiling
Proud of her once shy demure doormat friend

It’s too late
She won’t take us back
Now
Unless we apologise!
Or will she ?
Probably not
Let’s go
They scuttled away like
Vermin

She turned to the
Ocean and ran
To it
Was alone but happy
Strong

Thanks again I appreciate your review
I’ll visit you sometime soon
Hmm, this poem is good. What I enjoyed about it was the details that seemed to be put there for a reason not just for simple details, like the line about breast. Nicely penned. I also enjoyed the moral and ending of her being strong despite alone, for that's how you know YOU are strong. Tyfs

Hi there,
Related to your poem... remembering how I felt in my youth.
Did you mean toffee or was it suppose to be coffee..

Thank you for letting me know.
This reminds me of the poem Barbie Doll...
I would have nothing to do with them If I were she.
as the Grassroots sang "where were you when I needed you"
Love the poem and sentiment...made me cheer at the end.

Sometimes one has to make a stand in life regardless of the outcome, as your poem suggests.
