See You Around, Soldier.

See You Around, Soldier.

A Poem by Lauren Emmons
"

And my fists turn to flames at the absence of your fingers intertwined in mine.

"

I find myself to be

angry

at the thought of you.

I still feel your ghostly hand

in mine,

and my fists turn to flames

at the absence of your fingers

intertwined in mine.

So I’m left with empty

red hot fingertips

pulsing with anger

because you left by simply

burning a cigarette onto your

tongue and whispering

four words

that I can’t seem to get off of my mind:

‘See you around, soldier.’

It's wonderful how casual and cool the whole "see you around" is in contrast with the heat absolutely radiating from this piece, but it just fits. As if both of you are the soldier.

This is awsome, I read it like four times 'cause I just loved it.
That's really a nasty way of breaking up. Shame on him.
My only question is: Is the repetition of "of my" in the second to last line intended, or not?

But anyway, I just have to say it again, I loved it :)
