a poem of regret and lost love I wrote it in about 5-10 minutes

It Will Never Be The Same

The joy

only turns to sadness

when I realize that I can never have you

 

I can never love you

lest I hurt you

 

I can never talk to you

lest I become a burden

 

and you can never care about me

lest you regret it later

 

I remember when you used to say you wanted me

the old me

but my memory must be mistaken

for it all seems so cold now

 

I don't know why I did what I did

but it changed me

 

it changed us

 

and the warm feeling

the fire in my heart

now only feels like rain

 

because now

after what I've become...

well, you could never love that.
