Digital Sky

Digital Sky

A Poem by B. Stearns
"

Of confronting Dissociation.

"
You’ve got me deep down in the trenches
And I’m not sure who you are
What you’ve done with me
Or wherever you’ve put me
I can’t think of you
But you’re there
In that gray space
Even when I’ve got everything to think about
Watching a friend smile
And I’ll close my eyes
Hearing the sounds of plastic
And water
You steal my dreams away
What I wish to write
And at the bottom of every sentence I read
I hope I’ll find you there
See you clear
As if the backdrop were the sky
And I’ll pin you to the stars while I’m sleeping
Drag a knife across your throat
And I’ll hug you
And I’ll cry
Because I just couldn’t do it.
