Grandeur and Gore Junkie

Grandeur and Gore Junkie

A Poem by B. Stearns

You’ve got blood on your tux

Adrenaline is a dangerous game

You know that

And you decide to play your cards with it

To play your cards with anyone

To play your cards with me

Sick in the ways it pulls you in

Takes your stomach first

It gives you no time

And has no mercy

This is a game of improvisation

This is a game of strategy

Even though you’ve been stripped of thinking

And I guess that's where I made my mistake

You’re the dealer

You’re the banker

You’re everyone

And you’ve got everything figured out

How could I ever win?
