The World

The World

A Poem by B. Stearns
"

Of parental relationships and unattainable things.

"

I don't like writing it down

It makes me tired and exhausted

Reminding myself of your words

Hopeless dreams

Thinking your time out on a flight would be the most magical thing.

Dad’s got dreams too

Of money and of these stupid

Lost

Highschool memories

I see you running like it's any different

It's just another race

And just as hard as the last

Just as hard as the yelling

And you know you’ll feel the weight

In multitudes later

The second you stop

So you keep going

Keep reminding yourself it's different

That it is special

Across the country

When will you realize

That nothing like this is important

Not when you’ve never made peace in the first place
