I Promise...

This was just some thoughts I got out after dealing with a couple of bad relationships/ experiences and the lessons I'm finally learning from it all.

I promise to stay true to myself and never let another guy be the cause of my stress… unless I’m the cause of his.

I promise to put myself first… unless I’m at the top of your priority list, why would you even be on mine?

I promise to never cry over a guy that means me no good… if you wanted me, you would’ve shown it, right?

I promise to say no to these guys ‘trynna holla’ on the streets, at parties, at clubs, etc… I’m over the excitement and games, I want something real.

I promise to stop chasing these males… My daddy raised me as his princess so one day I could be a queen.  I’m too strong, dedicated and loyal to be running behind someone who only acknowledges me when they see it fit. I should be your Queen, not your slave girl.

I promise to focus on my education and career…. That’s my top priority for now, if Mr. Prince Charming appears during that process that’s great, but if he doesn’t- that’s fine too.

I promise to understand that it’s ok to be alone…I rather buy myself roses and chocolates on Valentine’s Day than sit around and wonder why ‘Mr. Right’ hasn’t even texted me  Happy Birthday yet.

I promise to never give anyone else that privilege to touch my body or even my lips without a meaningful commitment… I understand now that this temple is something extremely special and should be treated as such.

 

But just know…

 

When I do meet my Mr. Right…

I promise to treat you like the King you are

I promise to stay as loyal and committed as you are to me

I promise to always believe in you and your dreams and never put you down

I promise to be your number 1 supporter in everything you do

I promise to be there whenever you need me, from a “which shirt babe?” to any “I can’t do this alone…”

I promise to be your backbone every single day

I promise to never use your past against you and focus on what’s important- our present and future

I promise to be the reason you smile and always keep you happy

I promise to always pray for your wellbeing, health and safety

I promise to assure you every day that I AM the rib God sent to complete you

I promise to assure you that I AM your Queen, and only YOURS

 

So until God sees it fit to put you in my life

 

I promise to wait for you and preserve myself for you…

Even if that means being the only single one around my friends

Even if that means late lonely nights with no one to call

Even if that means I have to ignore those feelings Joe, Trey Songz and Avant keep putting in my head

Even if that means having to play Ms. Independent every day with no one to lean on

 

It’s cool, because you’re worth it, and I’ll wait.
