The Roar

The Roar

A Poem by Jeremy
"

Poem Exercise #1

"
It was the roar that shook my fear.
Hungrily and angrily, I understand.
It’s gone. They’ve taken it.
A temporary relief from chattering laughter
This artificial safety-valve - an unnatural provision.

It is an effort to seek in mysterious depths
Cyclical forces, fumbling mirthless and repressed.
There’s nothing here.
Forced to draw slowly from the pain that caused it.
A growing morning that shook the world.
