Poem Exercise #2

"
I am wishing there were times
Where my shame cut low
And my family would know comfort
Seldom asking for my anger.

The winter is leaving
Looking for quiet company.
Gone are squandered promises
In a pocket full of quarters.

The jests of w****s and strangers
Seeking out the poorer station
Aren't bleeding me, I do declare
New York is running ragged.

Author's Note

Jeremy
This was another writing exercise, similiar to the first, where I was only allowed to use words from a song. This poem uses words from the Simon & Garfunkel song, The Boxer.

Interesting use of 'I do declare', rarely does that phrase resonate. Overall, a pleasant read.
