Bury the hatchet

Bury the hatchet

A Poem by kaekay

bury the hatchet

She is listening
but not heeding
She is peeping
 but not hiding
And she's looking away but paying attention

""you forgive and life goes on"
"things will get better with time"
isn't that what they all say"

now as the morrow begins
they all come back,
the images
the words
even the expressions
and as the night pitches
they come to haunt her
the sounds of glass shattering,
the screams of the children
and even in dreams the tears well up
and the shards of glass all cut into her seeming to be growing out of her bones rather than digging into her flesh

bury the hatchet she did
yet the voices still laugh heartily from the confinements of her mind
and breed into the flesh of her days

"bury the hatchet,"they said
