Stone Walls

Stone Walls

A Poem by trying_to_write

I didn’t know I was lost,

until I met you.

Stuck in an infinite maze with countless dead ends,

you taught me to look past the dark walls.

To find the soft, warm glow of the sun in the sky,

when I only saw the hard, cold rocks on the ground.

You taught me to look up.

Stop staring at my feet and hold my head high.

Surrounded for so long,

by these towering stone walls,

I felt comfortable.

I knew these walls I called home,

would be there to catch me if I fell.

Slowly, you tore the walls down,

brick by brick.

You were determined.

i wouldn't change a thing ..i like the closing as is ... the sublime sun's warmth sustains me as i read on ... i think this is beautiful ... how precious are those that save us from doubts, confusions, fears and anxieties .. true people that care that "...were determined" ... we can make it hard can't we?! ;) wouldn't change a thing Trying
