IT-JEE is arguably one of the toughest entrance examinations in the country with only a fraction of students who take the test, being able to actually clear exam. However, there a few genius-level academic prodigies who not only crack the exam, but ace the tough entrance test. One such example is Kalpit Veerwal, who scripted history in 2017 by becoming the first-ever student to achieve a perfect score in JEE Mains.

Kalpit, a boy from Udaipur in Rajasthan, scored a perfect 360/360 marks in the JEE Mains examination, earning him a spot in the Limca Book of Records.

Who is Kalpit Veerwal?

Born in a middle-income household in Rajasthan’s Udaipur, Kalpit Veerwal’s father, Pushkar Lal, worked as compounder at the Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital , while his mother. Pushpa Veerwal, was a school teacher. Despite having limited financial resources, Kalpit’s parents ensured that their son received a good education.

Since his school years, Kalpit Veerwal was always a bright student, ranking among the top students in several national Olympiads, apart from being a Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Scholar, and a National Talent Search Scholar (NTSE).
Never studied for long hours

Following his record-setting JEE Mains success, Kalpit revealed in a 2017 interview that never attended a coaching class, and unlike most of his peers, didn’t have to study 15-16 hours a day to get to where he was, because he has the innate ability to grasp more in shorter period of time.

“I did not study for 15 hours a day, I did not go down the usual ‘Kota route’ for IIT preparations but consistent studies helped me a lot,” Veerwal told news agency PTI.
JEE topper to entrepreneur

The young prodigy wanted to make enough cash to skip campus placements and be his own boss, and began writing essays detailing his preparation strategy. He also joined National Cadet Corps, earning NCC A Certificate by completing rigorous firearm drills, camps, and training, and became a senior NCC cadet.
Birth and rise of AcadBoost

During his second year at IIT Bombay, Kalpit Veerwal started his YouTube channel, on which he shared his preparation strategy, and tips on clearing the JEE Advanced and JEE Mains. The channel received overwhelming response from JEE aspirant, crossing 100,000 subscribers, and earning the silver Play Button in 2019.

Currently, Kalpit’s channel has 338K subscribers and continues to provide valuable notes, strategies, and lessons to JEE aspirants.

Following his YouTube success, Kalpit Veerwal launched his online education platform, AcadBoost, aimed at helping students to prepare students for various competitive exams.

Soon, he launched online courses on the AcadBoost website, which proved to be an instant hit, and Kalpit Veerwal began to make more money than the highest salary package any of his peers received at IIT Bombay’s computer science department.

In his final year at IIT Bombay, Kalpit Veerwal made a bold decision to quit the college a semester early, and decided to focus on expanding AcadBoost Technologies. His successful venture caught the eye of investors like major edtech giants and private equity firms, however, Kalpit turned down these offers, and chose to remain independent, reinvesting his profits in other businesses, stock, and real estate.

In 2021, LinkedIn named him among the platform’s ‘Top Voices’. Kalpit Veerwal was also named in the list of 20 outstanding young professionals, and was the youngest on the list. Additionally, he has also delivered a TEDx talk, sharing his remarkable journey from JEE topper to entrepreneur.
