Chasing Butterflies

Chasing Butterflies

A Poem by Kangaballs
"

What it feels like to finally let go and follow your dream.

"
I've been told for so long
That being bi-polar makes me disabled.
What people don't understand
Is that they can label me all they want;
I'm still free.
Free to chase my butterflies
Far into the sky above.
Yes some days I feel like I'm drowning,
Like everything around me is telling me I can't.
Yes those days might be quite blinding,
And I want to curl into a ball and hide from every one;
I'm still free.
Free to chase my butterflies
Far into the sky above.
Some times I chase them too high,
So high I can't see the ground.
I face the danger of falling down,
But still I soar into the sky without looking back.
I'm still free.
Free to chase my butterflies
Far into the sky above.
No, I don't know if I'll ever reach my goal,
If I'll ever become this famous named author
Who people flock to, and surround
For autograph pictures, and a hearty well done.
But I'll always be free.
Free to chase my butterflies
Far into the sky above.

I watched a television program that the English guy Stephen Fry was hosting about depression. He said words to the effect that he experienced the really deep despair many times that can be altogether too common. However, he said when the darkness departs, he is left with an elation that takes him to clouds in joyful abandonment. During these times of exhilaration, he has bought 13 computers, and I believe numerous cell phones. He said that if there was a button that he could press that would take away depression, but also deny him his flights of exhaltation, he wouldn't press it. If your poem is not just an intellectual exercise, then fly, fly, fly as many times as you can. The important thing about your poem is that you communicated it well.

I've never heard of this bi-polar race you speak of, you just look like a human being to me. Have fun chasing your dreams, don't give in no matter what ;)
