To a friendA Poem by P. KapperSome people come into your life as acquainances, some as friends. Some become so much more! Those friends who become family. What have we become? We used to be so
close You were my rock The shoulder I needed The strength to keep
me strong A laugh to stop my
tears A hug to stop my
fears The friend among
friends The vault for my
ideas The voice of all
reasons But something changed Is it me? Did I lose you? I’ve always been
there And I always will But you don’t call on
me Like you had before Your name isn’t on my
phone As often as it had Is this the product Of choices I have
made I count on your
support Your opinion matters
to me Where did we break
away? Did I do something
wrong? Did I break your
trust? Please, please tell
me In a world of friends You were the best You are the best My partner in crime But this distance… This unceremonious
fall It cuts like a knife In a world of fakes Our friendship was
real I miss your laugh I miss your smile Do you? So this is my plea To be the friend to
me Like you used to be For I haven’t
forgotten The debt of gratitude That I owe to you For you aren’t a
friend You are my family © 2013 P. Kapper |
