"beautiful"

"beautiful"

A Poem by november
"

highschool boys suck, am i right?

"

he’s harmless

i laughed

there’s no way he could hurt me

but salt water tears flood

everywhere he touched

but he left peach-colored bruises

everywhere he looked

///

my memories of you

live in a small box

under my bed

____

he loves me

he loves me not

i pluck white petals

and scatter then at my feet

he loves me

he loves me

not

whatever. they’re just petals

i tell myself

flowers can’t predict

the future

///

am i beautiful

without your approval?

teenage romances are okay for the moment, but once we are out of school things blossom into the real world. This is really good. it is emotional....

Reading your lines took me back along time. It's surprising just how hurtful those teenage romances can be. Yes, I can remember petal plucking then too. Wouldn't do that now though, would be a waste of a beautiful flower. Relatable poetry.
