Yesterday you sent me a text

I looked in the mirror 

and I saw on my face 

happiness in its purest form

Are you happy? 

my reflection asked 

and I thought of you 

and saw a twinkle in my eye

Do you feel safe? 

my reflection asked again

and I remembered how 

safe I'd felt when I told you 

about the things 

that had hurt me the most

Finally, my reflection asked 

Are you scared? 

and I said, 

fear is nothing in the eyes of something 

as beautiful as you and I.
