The Run

The Run

A Poem by Katie

The girl craved that gown.

She lived in a old ratted town.

Riding through life at her own pace.

She wanted that dress with the lace.

Her father didn't love her a ton.

She was the girl that owned the gun.

The boy was just looking to have fun.

I saw that boy sitting on his porch day by day.

I think it might have been the month of may.

He just wanted to live.

He didn't understand the sacrifices that he had to give.

The people of the town minds close.

They were mannequins waiting to be put in their pose.

They never knew the truth it was always coated.

They were like clay waiting to get molded.

The families all the same.

It was like God was playing some sort of fucked up game.

Where the rich could never stop.

And the poor were the ones who had to face that drop.

The rich kids god their education.

The poor kept counting the money they were never making.

The girl hated a world where money was king.

She was waiting for that phone to ring.

For the boy to say today is the day.

In fact it really was the month of may.

Because the boy looking for fun

He loved that girl who owned the gun

It was a game they told us to Run.
