We Are Only Numbers

We Are Only Numbers

A Poem by TheKaylaPup
"

One is a tragedy, many are only numbers.

"

We’re no longer people,

Only remnants of what we once were.

We are only soldiers

In a war we wish was over.

We are only numbers,

Numbers missing, numbers dead.

We’re the ones not counting

Only numbers of heads.

We’re no longer people,

Only remnants of what we once were.

We are only orphans,

Our parents lost to the hatred.

We are only numbers,

Numbers orphaned, numbers dead.

We’re the ones not counting

Only numbers of heads.

We’re no longer people,

Only remnants of what we once were.

We are only homeless,

Losing everything to this war.

We are only numbers,

Numbers homeless, numbers dead.

We’re the ones not counting

Only numbers of heads.

We’re no longer people,

Only remnants of what we once were.

We who see the tragedies,

You only see the numbers.

We are only numbers,

Numbers worse off, numbers dead.

We’re the ones not counting

Only numbers of heads.

i loved it. the whole poem is true, which is that sad part. more often than not, we are just numbers. i think the repetition in this worked well. it was a very well done piece, and maybe someday we will all be people again instead of just numbers.

it's a sad state of affairs when we become numbers instead of individuals. Yet so many times in our society we are more numbers than names.

Tragedy is war, war is tragedy; indeed.
Sad, but true, disturbing write of destruction.
