Dear Dreams

Dear Dreams

A Poem by Katherine Cabrera
"

A bittersweet relationship

"

Dear Dreams

cannot deny the peace you bring,

through concrete ruffles,

I am tripping each time as the thought of wanting you constantly flows through my mind,

how cliché it may seem.

to be in love with the words that you constantly sing,

the earnestness you bring, irreplaceable it seems.

nothing seems to bring this.

so I will,

continue to keep you captive in my head,

hiding truths of you,

and you will continue to yell and remind me what I must do,

i must love you,

i must know who you are,

i must want you,

and I must feed into you,

and I will retell the tale of the hardship I face,

how difficult it is,

how unashamed I feel, but I am starving and you cannot provide.

so i’ll await, feeding you slowly, wanting you daily,

and captivated you’ll remain.

I have thrown away the keys, but it will easily be found.
