Breaking of the Heart

I cry,

every time he hits me,

yet I still love him,

even when he breaks my heart.

 

I hide,

whenever I do something wrong,

yet I still trust him,

even when he breaks my heart.

 

I hurt,

when he calls me names,

yet I still believe him,

even when he breaks my heart.

 

I wish,

for a second chance,

for a real love,

because I won't let him break me anymore.

this was a great poem, it describes so greatly the happening of abusive relationships to me. i've never been in one, but I can imagine it through this. i love how the ending brought hope. great job. :)

It's hard to think reasonably when you're in love- even if it's causing more pain than anything else. I've always found this subject scary and interesting, and I actually read a book called "Fault Line" once that took both sides of a relationship like this, it was....Strange. Overall, I really liked this, and I love the defiance I feel in the last line. Great write.

This is beautifully damaged. I loved the meter, the flow is good. But this isn't about meter or flow... this is about the raw emotional reasoning behind a work of art such as this.
