The Soft Parade

The Soft Parade

A Poem by Reflexion

The Soft Parade

As I navigate the crowd

At the

Soft Parade

I avoid the sunlight

And

Choose the shade

In a contradictory way

The shade has

Taken over the day

While

The sunlight is trapped

In the past

Juxtaposed opposites

Hoping

The sunlight will last

Guiding the revelers

Toward

Who they once were

When life was

Simple

And they lived on the hope

They would prosper

But their reality lies

In the shade

With those

Who kind of resemble me

Those

Who have been who they weren’t

To discover

Who they’d be

And as they continue to discover

That person

The one thing that remains certain

Is that

They will not be the same tomorrow

Owning their past

And

Unwilling to borrow

From who they once were

In order to merely

Re-live it

At some point in life

We all must

Forgive it

And reside in the shade

Understanding the sunlight

At the Soft Parade
