Yani's Voyage

Yani's Voyage

A Poem by kewayne wadley

As he sat and watched with youthful eyes,
He wondered how nice it would be to visit his plastic beach,
Ever since he first shook his gift round and round his fifth birthday, his mind would venture,
He'd explore the sand covered vinyl piece by piece,
Not much room to explore he'd rest his feet by the faded water which turned the same color as the plastic sand over time,
Waiting for the wind that never came,
He'd sit and watch the plastic beach in his hand,
Fantasizing about the plastic cloth that hung from the two trees glued to the vinyl sand,
How nice it would be to lay against the plastic cloth and dream,
He'd shake his world and watch the water swirl around,
Wetting the sand from which he watched inside out,
How he could replace the painted man that always smiled with the painted sun,
Would it be as hot as he imagined,
Would the world still look the same from the inside looking out,
With youthful eyes he swirled the waters around his painted world,
Imaging fish that swam against his current,
What they would look like,
What stories they'd tell,
With youthful eyes,
He wondered how nice it would be to visit his plastic beach
