Suffering in retrospect.

Suffering in retrospect.

A Poem by Fairy Khan

It is colored hopeless,
black
like a bad dream,
my life;
and this faith which
I can still see,
or is it getting faint
by the moment?
And my heart,
is it sinking or just
wasted?

God knows I try,
but my sins
are too heavy
for my back to carry,
so I am suffocating
as I breathe,
I am suffering in retrospect,
then why?
Why do you trap me
in this body
that I no longer recognise?

Break me lose
from these shackles,
either set my heart free
or my soul.
I ask of you
nothing, but mercy,
for the sinner that cries
to you for help.

Ohh!! this is sad and i like the ending of it, the writer recognizes that God is mercy and he gives it. Well done

I love the title of this poem & how you use it in your message. It's a brilliant truth about life . . . we don't realize how miserable we are, many times, until much later. Lots of times we have to grit our teeth to get thru a hard stretch & we don't even realize how much we're suffering, but stuffing it down just to get thru. Your poem is intensely-stated with questioning & physicality & drama (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thank you so much for reading and the comment. Much love.
A soul heavily burdened who has the weight of the world on her shoulders. If it's religion that does that, then in my opinion it is a sad thing indeed. Good to read you Fairy.

I see it more like the person doing it to themselves, rather than the religion. Thank ypu for droppi.. read more
sometimes faith is such a hard thing to hold on to...a lifeline and soulline just out of reach of weakening resolve.

That's right. Faith is difficult to hold on to, but I hope it's worth it.
