water's edge

water's edge

A Poem by AKhaus

i hang on the water's edge
my eyes skim across the line
peering over into a reflection that seems very distant from my touch
I wander on the horizon which allows the liquid to touch the ground
always teetering on that precipice
is what lives below is as above
or another world that looks back
what draws me to this pool that transforms from air to ice to chilling blue
that steals my soul and keeps you
my heart moves the waves across your face, the thumping earth drinking
what mortal hands seem inadequate in your space
my roots invade your world, only extending a distance just out of reach of your true depth
I turn, I shake, I crumble ... but you, you stay calm, so tranquil
even when i dissolve into you I sift to the bottom
