unknown to you

unknown to you

A Poem by AKhaus

Even as the shadows lifted and the morning rolled across that moment slow, I realized I needed to go.
My lines were bursting below those tones and I couldn't help but to go before I would blow.
Your words, those words so infuriating and cold, my demon trembled shaking my bones.

I was just a character, a puppet, a theatrical display for you to manipulate, and not once did you ever ask what my heart could take.

Your deceptions slipped down under my feet and I needed to go.
Running before I would fall.
Hiding from the flames of my burning pain, I ran and stayed far away.

I was just a character, a puppet, a theatrical display for you to manipulate, and not once did you ever ask what my heart could take.

And still in the silence I hear your voice calling, calling and I wonder why you couldn't just love me without needing to have control of it all.
Even as the sun sets and the moon rises to free my soul, I won't forget, I won't ever forget because of you I had to go.
My chest was collapsing in that hollow home.
Your eyes went empty before I could find you, what was left so deep in that hidden nightmare you kept inside.

I was just a character, a puppet, a theatrical display for you to manipulate, and not once did you ever ask what my heart could take.

I gave you all that I could and not once did you ever ask, ask who I was beneath the glass.
