The foolish man

The foolish man

A Poem by AKhaus

I am a foolish man.

I am a willful clown in this circus of denial, this masquerade of hypocrites.
Actors talking to hear themselves talk and making virtuous gestures only to have a bit of virtue.

I am trapped yet I walked into the trap knowing it a trap but hoping it not.
Sad by the windowless view and constant madness in my room, yet I placed my head freely into this grip.
Wondering why I trusted the empty words which are always empty.

I befriend liars, hoping they will not lie to me yet constantly surprised by the lies they bleed.
I eat their words without hesitation and wonder why I am ill for days.

I seek friendship to be met with beguilement.  I promise those near that I will be here yet met with their neglect.
Time is fleeting when it is wasted and then you wonder why the clock stops clicking.

I am pointless with my thoughts but poignant with their meaning searching for the line that I've been long dreaming.

I am a foolish man.
