Morning Angel

Morning Angel

A Poem by Drew

Morning Angel

I have seen an angel in this the early morning light...

My heart wanders and I wonder will I ever know such beauty…

My heart torn so many times before…will I ever know such a love as from my morning angel…

Then as I begin to speak…my lips dry…my tongue swollen…it is then that I realize in this early morning light that the angel I see…is you.

My angel speaks out my name,

And it is as if all the bells in heaven were ringing out.

My angel reaches out to touch me

And my skin shudders in delight

Then as if to wake from a dream

My eyes open wide to see that my early morning angel is you.

My thoughts wonder to all the beauty my days have known

Surly my eyes may never see such beauty again, and in that moment

All gods’ creatures sing out their approval and my soul takes flight

Swept away by a single glance

Of an angel met merely by

Chance.

I could see this becoming a song easily. Very enrapturing with the heavenly metaphors and images. The poem flows without hangups. Very well written and quite breathtaking, even for a mean old b*****d like myself with an unhealthy obsession with the macabre.

This is so lovely and romantic. A wonderful love song to a lucky someone. Beautifully penned. Great job.
