Oh' My!

Oh' My!

A Poem by Kitalia Emme

Once upon a midnight dreary I sat and stared, my mind most weary,
at a monitor screen as time passed me by
And on a Reddit links I clicked, unsure of what I'd see
For a time I watched some bacon as it did fry,
and then a bad crash, a car did fly
And my grey cells I did fry.
And as I browsed through, though I had other things to do,
the depths of the web I'd merely sigh
attempting to talk myself into a productive streak
in complacence I was content to lie
and let the world go and pass me by
and never did I wonder why.
Then I came to a nostalgic thread, of heroes I loved and villains I dread
and found that once again I longed to fly
to the reaches of space "the final frontier"
The memories brought a tear to my eye,
Again I longed to touch the sky
Again I longed to try.
And as I sat there Clicking clicking, my heart and mind kept faster ticking
with each thread I followed and new link that I did try
further out I did explore and came to a touching speech
as Sulu explained the reason why
to save his friends, he would try,
and at this I did cry.
And then I clicked another link, Causing me to stop and think
perhaps soon I should stand and try
To journey forth and find my new frontier!
As Sulu links I kept clicking by
and then I was lead to George Takei
and he uttered the words "Oh' My!"
At this utterance my heart did leap! An energy greater then any sleep!
Such powerful words I longed to try!
And so from out my chair I leaped
And shouted out "Oh' My!"
refreshed the sound clip of Takei
In unison "Oh' My!"
Such inspiration in that quote! In a voice calm and deep, I must note.
Another video, and another, into my search I typed "Oh' My!"
For hearing the simple utterance was an inspiration
and a comfort to a soul such as I
when I heard the voice of George Takie
Speak forth the phrase "Oh' My!"
And so when my days are bleak, those words I long to hear him speak,
and to the internet I go, and I'm sure you now know why.
For that simple uttered phrase fills my heart with joy
As the great man George Takei
utters forth the phrase "Oh' My!"
Such joy, Takei, "Oh' My!"

Author's Note

Kitalia Emme
I was asked to write about George Takei, and I was dared to do a Poe style poem.

I couldn't think of a better way to salute two men who I hold in such great respect that this.
