Everything Wrong With The World In 50 Lines Or Less

Everything Wrong With The World In 50 Lines Or Less

A Poem by Kat Marie
"

Poem I wrote cause... well everyone kinda sucks.

"
She listens to the beat as she swivels her hips
But sits crying at night slitting her wrists
Her eyes are deep brown but bright with fire
A smoke made of oppression where death feels most dire
She’s whitens the surface and darkens her heart
Its better not to feel then to be ripped apart
She bleeds out with music but sings a quiet song
She longs for the feeling to not feel at all

Its true what they say about wearing a mask
High hopes of bright futures to be dimmed by dark pasts
But lets face it, the truth is in the lies that we tell
We speak of a heaven as we wait in this hell
We blame society, but that’s who we are
We’re the people of ignorance, of war and cold hearts
Raise money for the poor, but don’t give on the streets
We smile then make judgements about the people we meet

You see that girl, with the hair over her eyes?
The one who is great at always telling lies
Not with her tongue but with the smile that she gives
Her poker face strong, that’s how we all live
Life’s like a game, where we all climb to success
But we play with poor sportsmanship forgetting the rest
What about the helpless? The weak and the young?
It’s like Russian roulette; you never know who’s been stung

I get it, we have campaigns and songs
We say “love each other” and “bullying’s wrong”
But if you want to fix a problem, start at the beginning
If the victim shows fear, the bully is winning
We must come together, not to stand up
But to go to the corner and ask shy girl what’s up
She may say nothing, or she may say it all
But one thing’s for sure: she’ll be thankful of something so small

We will never stop bullying, and that’s that
This brown skin called ugly, and these hips called fat
It’s hard to change something like your ethnicity
But I’d like it a lot better if it wasn’t my identity
I make black jokes first so you feel safer with words
But racism is STILL A THING, don’t know if you’ve heard
It’s hard enough to be apart of the 0.3
And it’s even harder because “Loud Girl” is me

I know what your thinking, “Wow, this is deep”
But how many of you will let the words seep
Will you change your life, or the life of another
Pass a compliment over, try to love one another
Stop talking s**t about bullying prevention
When the real need is for self re-invention
Now you know my instruction, you know what to do
How will you feel when “Loud Girl” is you?
