Bravery

BRAVERY

Silent, solemn, sad

People in mourning, weeping for those that

Gave their lives to gain peace

Not knowing what they were fighting for.

Turning the world into a graveyard, full of

Nameless soldiers, lying dead and cold in

The ground.

They donated their lives, just as one

Would donate blood to save a life.

In doing so, they saved many people

From utter destruction.

It cost them their lives, and caused

Them much pain, but the pain was

Sweet as honey to them, because they

Knew it was saving their country, their families.

They gladly gave themselves to Death

In exchange for their country’s freedom, even though

They didn’t know if it would be accomplished.

Such bravery is seemingly absent in the world today,

But it lives on, hidden from the face of humankind.

This is a deep work. I share the view that the valor and courage of earlier times is lacking in our world today. It has indeed diminished and is no longer the norm, but as you said it does live on in the hearts of a few. I appreciate you honoring the brave ones who have purchased our freedom. Good work!

I rarely find another who does prose too hurray!
I love the symbolism and message in this poem. Though I don't neccessarily agree with war, I understand most soldiers have good intentions.
Anyways, I thought this was really nice! One thing that I think could improve this is to put a space after each comma.
If you did that in the intro where you say:
"Silent.
Solemn.
Sad."
I think you could really up the umph of this poem. Good job!
